Q1. What is the difference between standard oxygen tubing and oxygen concentrator tubing?

Standard tubing works across cylinders, wall outlets, and concentrators for short to medium-term use. Concentrator tubing is made for continuous daily use — a softer material that resists permanent kinking over weeks and months of home therapy.

Q2. How often should oxygen tubing be replaced?

In hospital settings, per-patient or weekly, depending on protocol. For home use, every 3–6 months — or immediately if the tubing is stiff, discoloured, cracked, or kinked in a way that doesn't recover. Degraded tubing reduces flow without any visible indication at the flowmeter.

Q3. Can I extend the tubing length using a connector?

Yes. An oxygen tubing connector joins two standard tubes securely. Ensure the connector bore matches your tubing internal diameter (typically 4 mm or 6 mm). Avoid more than one join in a single run — each connection point is a potential leak site.

Q4. What FiO₂ does an oxygen mask with tubing deliver?

A simple face mask delivers approximately 35–55% oxygen at 5–10 LPM. A non-rebreathing mask with a reservoir delivers 90–95% at 10–15 LPM. Nasal cannula via tubing delivers 24–44% at 1–6 LPM. Flow rate, mask fit, and patient breathing pattern all affect the actual delivered oxygen.

Q5. Is your oxygen tubing compatible with Philips Respironics and Nidek concentrators?

Yes. Our tubing and connectors are compatible with standard fittings used on Philips Respironics, Nidek, DeVilbiss, and BPL concentrators. Contact us if you need to confirm compatibility for a specific model.
